Communities Get Nddc’s Water, Electrification Projects

In furtherance of its commitment to the development of the Niger Delta region, the Niger Delta Development Commission has inaugurated an electrification project in Dawes Island of Okrika Local Government Area just as it inaugurates a solar water project in Alakahia community all of Rivers State.

Performing the ceremonies, Rivers State Representative on the Board of the NDDC, Professor Ibitamuno Aminigo disclosed that the Commission will ensure that more funds are appropriated for the development of the rural areas across the region.

He noted that the projects inaugurated were based on the request of the Communities in line with the people oriented project delivery approach of the Board.

“Our projects are dependent on what you ask us to do for you, needs differ, NDDC cannot decide for you, tell us what you want, and we will give you” he advised.

Chairman, Dawesi Island Development Committee, Elder Lawrence Iyoyo thanked the NDDC for the electrification project, describing it as a sign of good things to come in the community.

On his part, Secretary, Alakahia Council of Chiefs, Chief Daniel Ogbonna, observed that the NDDC had been outstanding in the provision of amenities to the people of Alakahia town.

They particularly thanked the Commission for the provision of transformers and upgrading the electricity supply from 11KVA to 33.15KVA line as well as provision of Solar Powered Water Project.
