Some Nigerian football coaches have called for regular post-match conferences in the local league, to enable teams correct their flaws.

The coaches told newsmen that the win –at-all-cost syndrome by Nigerian clubs have prevented their officials from post-match meetings.

They said the absence of such meetings had robbed the game of its main goal of unification and integration.

A former National U-20 Coach, Rolandson Odeh, condemned the abandoning of such meetings, saying it could retard football progress in Nigeria.

Odeh said the two competing teams had their areas of strength and weakness, which should be discussed after the match, to improve the sport.

The former Falconets coach said it was only at such post-match meetings that such shortcomings could be addressed.

“Whether a team loses or wins, robbed or not, let teams’ management adhere to the rules with regard to the post- match meeting, to foster cohesion and integration among teams,” Odeh said.

He advised that no team should leave the pitch in malice of being cheated, but that all should adhere to the mending rules provided by the post-match meeting.

Adewale Matiluko, the coach of Progressive United Football Academy , Lagos, said many Nigerian coaches were not invited to officiate in CAF organised competitions and World Cups.

Matiluko said this was due to the coaches’ failure to adhere to the resolutions at post- matches.

He said important issues like jersey, duration, and security were discussed at the post- match meetings, which in turn enhanced better performance of the teams in future.
