The Soccer Proprietors Limited, otherwise known as Club Owners, have mandated the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) board to call an emergency congress within the next seven days.

This was contained in a statement signed by the chairman Suleiman David after a meeting of the body held in Abuja recently

According to the statement, the Club Owners frowned at the inability of the NPL to pay match officials’ indemnity, despite reportedly receiving the television rights sponsorship fee.

The Club Owners also lamented the various negative developments recorded at some match venues across the country and demanded that an urgent congress be called to resolve issues arising from these as well as to find lasting solutions to the ugly trend.

“We have watched events as they unfold, especially the various ugly incidents at our match venues and we have concluded that only at a congress will these issues be best ironed out,” he said.

“Therefore, we are demanding that the board of the NPL convenes an emergency congress within the next seven days to thrash out these issues.
