Baptist All Stars Win PH Open Match Competition Academy

The Baptist All Stars of Port Harcourt town have defeated its counterpart Mac-Jef Soccer Academy F.C 5-4 on penalty shootout in the final match of the open match competition at the Number six-field mini-Stadium in Port Harcourt.

The match which ended 3-3 saw the All Stars team that was made up of old professionals, who had seen the good, the bad and the ugly in football being made to play the second fiddle by Mac-Jef Soccer Academy within eight minute of play by taking the lead.

But the young boys could not hold on to the goal for long as the All Stars proved their mettle by equalising within 16 minutes of the first half.

About 20 minutes later, the Mac-Jef FC increased the tally to 2-1.

Mac-Jef FC kept piling more pressure on the All Stars and finally made it 3-1. Several attempts were made by both sides, especially, the All Stars FC to reduce the goals deficit but to no avail in the first half of the match.

The second half started with both sides struggling to gain control of the game, but it was the All Stars that claimed superiority by reducing the deficit in the 53rd minute.

However, on the 72rd minutes, the Baptist All Stars converted a corner kick to have an equalising goal that finally took the game into penalty kicks.

In the penalty shootout, the Baptist All Stars converted their five kicks while Mac-Jef Soccer Academy missed one and the shootout ended 5-4 in favour of the All Stars FC.
