President of Premier Industrial Estate Co-operative Multi-Purpose Society Limited, Alhaji Olayiwola Jaji, has said the organisation’s upcoming trade fair and exhibition is aimed at refocusing Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and boost its job-creating capacity.

The co-operative society is managed by the occupants of Yaba Industrial Estate Association.

Jaji said the fair, which will be hosted in the estate, would provide an avenue for outsiders to identify with the business activities in the estate.

The fair will hold from April 11 to 12, ending with an award ceremony where past governors of Lagos State will be honoured for their contributed to real sector development. Industrialists who have spent more than 30 years in the industrial estate will also be honoured.

Brigadier-General Mobolaji Johnson, Alhaji Lateef Jakande and Senator Bola Tinubu, will be honoured for their contribution to the development of the state.

Stakeholders expected at the fair/exhibition are Director-General of National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Dr. Paul Orhii, Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, representative of Bank of Industry (BoI), representative of Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) and Lagos State Commissioner of Commerce and Industry, Mrs. Olusola Oworu.

Jaji said the government should build industrial estates in all the local governments of the federation in order to create massive jobs that can reduce unemployment to the barest minimum.

He noted that SMEs need better funding to create more jobs arguing that a sector that engage about 70 per cent of the labour force deserves more attention.
