A multiple gold medalist for Rivers State in swimming at the 17th National Sports Festival, Garden City Games 2011, Dino Ebaracunmo, has said that he is looking forward to representing Nigeria in an international swimming competition.

Ebarakunmo made this disclosure over the weekend during an interview with Tidesports in Port Harcourt.

According to him, his target now remains to represent the country in any international championship since he is no longer eligible for the National Sports Festival, stating that the 17th NSF was his last participation in the biennial event.

Earlier the athlete had said that he gave all to be successful at the Garden City Games, because it was going to be his last appearance in the NSF.

Ebarakunmo, attributed his success to hardwork, discipline and commitment to the sports, adding that the above were the secret of his great performance during the last national sports fiesta.

He however, decried the poor treatment givn to athletes in the country, lamenting that it is nothing to write home about.

“Athletes ought to be well-taken care of, especially, as it concerns their facilities and equipment they needed to train with, in order to motivate them and enhance their performance,” he said.

He was grateful to the Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi for the support and encouragement given to athletes in the state.

It would be recalled that Dino Ebarakunmo won a total of 14 medals seven gold, four silver and three bronze for the state at the 17th NSF.
