The chairman of  Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi Dominic Iorfa has expressed surprise over the recent sanctions handed to Dolphins FC and its Manager, Stanley Eguma by the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF over allegation of match fixing.

An NFF panel recently fined Dolphins N10 million and banned Eguma for five years from all football activities for what it said was their involvement in the match fixing Saga between sunshine stars and Lobi Stars of Markurdi.

Lorfa expressed his surprise while fielding questions from sports journalists shortly after his side lost to Sharks FC 2-0 last weekend in Port Harcourt.

According to him, he did not know why NFF involved Dolphins because he did not mention Dolphins in his petition.

“Frankly, I don’t know why Dolphins FC was find and Eguma banned, because in  my case I did not include Dolphins. I only reported Sunshine Stars”, Iorfa said.

The chairman accepted defeat in the game with Sharks saying that his players missed three scoring chances within the first 10 minutes of the game.

“I blame my players because the first goal  was very cheap, caused by the goal keeper and defenders, that set the tone for victory for the home side”, he stated.

Iorfa, expressed sadness over the continous use of Kaduna born referees to officiate their matches, three in a row so far.

“Out of the six games we have played, three have been handled by Kaduna born referees. But the centre referee of this match had a good game, at least I gave him 70 per cent”, he said.
