RSG To Appeal Sanctions Against Dolphins
Rivers State government has said it would appeal against the sanctions ruled against Dolphins FC to pay N10 million by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over the allegation of match mixing. Dolphins Coach, Stanley Eguma was also given a five years ban from every football related activities.
Commissioner for Sports in the state, Hon. Fred Igwe made this known shortly after he met with the technical and management team of Dolphins FC, in his office on Friday.
According to him, the judgement against Dolphins holds no ground because the allegation has no link with the club. He said that the club would appeal to ensure that the integrity of the club remains intact.
In the same vein, the chairman of Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi, Dominic Iorfa, who wrote the petition against Sunshine Stars FC has expressed surprise over NFF’s decision to involve Dolphins in the matter.
“I will find out why NFF involved Dolphins. Personally I have not seen the judgement. When I see it, then I will know what to say and what to do,” Iorfa said at the weekend.
Meanwhile, Dolphins FC yesterday secured yet another home victory with a 2-1 victory over Akwa United while sister club, Sharks returned to winning ways on Saturday with a 2-0 triumph against Lobi Stars of Makurdi.
