RSG Restates Commitment To Job Creation
The Commissioner for Employment Generation and Empowerment, Hon. Ipalibo Harry, has stated the commitment of the Rivers State government in tackling the problems of unemployment in the state.
Hon. Harry stated this during his interaction with some groups of unemployed youths at the State Secretariat complex in Port Harcourt, recently.
The commissioner who reiterated the need for the unemployed youths to be patient with the state government, said in a statement, made available to The Tide in Port Harcourt that youths should conduct themselves in a manner that would attract government attention to their plights.
He recalled that the government had through companies operating in the state offered jobs to indigenes in the areas of driving, fork lifting, welding and plumbing.
In his response, Mr. Dennmis Iwo on behalf of the unemployed youths commended the commissioner for identifying with their plight and promised that the youths would conduct themselves properly.
It would be recalled that unemployment in Nigeria has risen to 70 per cent and has also been fingered as the main cause of social vices in the country.
