Phalga, RSG To Rebuild Mile I Market
The Port Harcourt City Local Government Council, has restated its commitment to partner with the state government for the reconstruction of the second phase of the Mile I Market.
The mayor of the city, Hon. Chimbiko Akarolo who dropped this hint in his office in Port Harcourt while receiving the executive members of the Ikwerre Traders Association also said that work will soon commence on the reconstruction of the Elekahia would Fruit Garden Markets.
Hon. Akarolo also said that the council is negotiating with Access Bank to rebuild the creek road market with the state of t he art facilities for the people of the town axis of the city.
He said that the council will not compromise standards as meetings with the various contractors are already going on.
While assuring that allocation of sheds will be given first to the original owners, the council boss also expressed delights over the involvement of the Ikwerres in trading activities, a situation that has debunked the erroneous notion that the Ikwerres are not business inclined.
The president of the association, Deacon Kenneth Eze had earlier on thanked the mayor for his intervention in the leadership crisis at the Oroworukwo Community Market popularly known as Mile III market.
They also commended him for his developmental strides in the city.
