Hon. LongJohn, a two time lawmaker who represented Bonny/Degema Federal Constituency in the National Assembly told The Tide in an exclusive interview Thursday in Port Harcourt that the development has economic multiplier effect in the state.

He said that the people and government of Rivers State should as a matter of urgency organised thank you party for the Board and Management of the NLNG for considering it necessary to relocate the company’s corporate headquarter to Port Harcourt despite the criticisms that Rivers State is not safe.

“As a matter of urgency, we should organised a kind of thank you party for the board and directors of NLNG for taking that initiatives despite the campaign that, here is not safe, they took the risk of coming.”

He said that NLNG bold step should serve as an example to other multinational companies to relocate their headquarters to their areas of operations.

According to him, Mobil should relocate to Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State, while the Nigerian Agip headquarters be relocated to Yenegoa, the capital of Bayelsa State.

Meanwhile, Hon. LongJohn has blamed the delay in the completion of the Bodo/Bonny road on poor funding by the government.

He said that the situation where the Federal Government provides one billion naira annually for a project that cost N30 billion shows the level of unseriousness on the part of the government.

“A contract of about N30 billion, every year you provide only one billion naira for it, you are going to finish it in 30 years time,” he said.
