NDLEA Arraigns Man Over Drugs

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Rivers State Command, has arraigned a middle aged man, Ibrahim Bitrus in a Federal |High Court sitting in Port Harcourt on Monday for drug related cases.

The accused person, Ibrahim Bitrus 27 was arraigned before Justice Adaobi Onyetenu on a one count charge bordering on possession of India hemp.

The accused person was said to have been arrested by NDLEA officers on the 10th of January, 2012 at Slaughter in Trans Amadi area of Port Harcourt in possession of 70.6 grammes of India hemp.

Mr. Ibrahim pleaded guilty of the charge brought against him.

However, the prosecuting counsel to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Barrister Patrick Eshua pleaded with the court to grant them time to enable him come with the exhibit found with the accused person.

In her ruling, the presiding judge, Justice Adaobi Onyetenu remanded the accused person in prison custody and adjourned the case to March 27, 2012 for further hearing.
