Legislative Workers Warned Against Partisanship

Legislative workers in Nigeria under the aegis of Parliamentary Staff Assocation of Nigeria (PASAN), have been warned against geeting involved in partisan politics in the discharge of their duties.

The National President of PASAN, Mr. Fatai Jimoh handed down the warning while inaugurating the newly elected members of the Rivers State House of Assembly chapter of the association in Port Harcourt.

Mr. Jimoh who was accompanied by his Zonal Vice President, Mr. Prince Abangwu to observe the  election, said the national secretariat of the body would invoke the constitutional provision on any erring officers that failed to uphold the constitution of the association.

He urged the new executive members to carry everybody along and play their leadership role of being the voice of the workers that elected them.

The PASAN boss advised them to work together to create a cordial relationship with the management, stressing that any matter which would result in confrontation with the Assembly leadership must be reported to the National Secretariat.

In his acceptance speech, the new Chairman of PASAN, Rivers State House of Assembly chapter, Mr. Louis Okereke promised to abide by the oath of office and to justify the confidence reposed in him by members.

Other members of the new executive include Ms Comfort Otuene, vice chairman, Mr. Dappa Emmanuel, welfare officer, Glory Wokeh financial secretary, Don-Pedro Martins, treasurer, Regina Jaja internal auditor, Otaji Simeipiri, social secretary, while Grace Adekima Ajaegbu, and Friday Egbo emerged legal adviser and provost 1 respectively.
