House Committees Commence Appropraition Bill Defence
The Rivers State House of Assembly has directed its standing committees to commence presentation of appropriation defence of their various Ministries, Commissions, Departments and Agencies in the State.
Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon Otelemaba Amachree said, the purpose for the exercise is to educate the House with comprehensive reports of their capital and recurrent expenditure and also to reconcile some conflicting sections before passing the 2012 appropriation bill into law.
Presenting his budget Report on the floor of the House, the Committee Chairman on Information, Hon. Onari Brown stated that for the Ministry to discharge its responsibilities some of its parastatals need total overhauling to meet the modern challenges in the communication industry.
Other lawmakers’ who presented their committee reports demanded additional funds while some maintained their former appropriation.
Rt. Hon. Amachree commended members for their rational contributions and committed bill to the House Committee on appropriation.
Meanwhile, the appropriation Committee’ has been given seven working days to report back to the House.
