Group Backs Virginity In Young Girls
An Umuahia-based non-governmental oganisation, Attitude Productions, says it will encourage young girls to maintain their virginity as a way of raising moral standards in the society.
Mr Prosper Ekekwe, head of the NGO, told newsmen on Thursday in Umuahia that the group would institutionalise the celebration of a World Purity Day.
“This group is a movement of people tired of the current moral decadence and willing to enthrone responsible living among the people and this cuts across religion and race.
“The 2012 celebration is going to be the first of its kind the world over and it is important to note that this celebration is starting in Nigeria,
“Any girl that keeps her virginity till marriage will be celebrated and the first set of virgins will be rewarded with brand new cars during the 2013 World Purity Day,” he said.
Ekekwe said such virgins would only be identified at their wedding eve, after a confirmation of their status by a team of female medical doctors.
“We will also set up Purity Brigade in all secondary schools across the country and purity homes to rehabilitate harlots and drug addicts,” he said.
He said that the group also had some packages for all outstanding students of institutions of higher learning.
“This will be done in partnership with their respective institutions and we shall crown such people with Ambassadors of Purity Award at their convocation,” he said.
He said that the aim of the awards was to dissuade the younger generation from engaging in activities that would further erode the image of the country.
Ekekwe said that the group was discussing with multinationals and financial institutions to realise its set goals.
“By the time these set goals are achieved we believe that corruption which is an off-shoot of immorality, would have been contained to a reasonable extent,” Ekekwe said.
