Gokana Targets Full Immunisation Coverage
The Gokana Local Government Council says its target is to ensure full coverage of the area in the on-going immunsiation programme.
The Council chairman, Hon. Deemua Ledee Deemua said this while flagging off the immunisation exercise of the Community Health Centre, Yeghe in the Gokana Local Government Area.
Hon. Deemua who commended the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) headed by the Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for spearheading the third phase of the immunisation programme, said that the council is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that cases of polio is not found in the area.
The Council boss stressed the need for health and medical works to ensure that every households is covered in the immunisation programme.
He thanked the people particularly the women for their massive turnout for the programme while enjoining the men folks to also take active interest in the immunisation of their children.
Also speaking, the primary healthcare coordinator in charge of Gokana Local Government Area,. Dr. Emmanuel Wornu said that Gokana has not recorded any cases of polio in the last five years.
Dr. Wornu who regretted that Nigeria has continue to remain among countries still having cases of polio stressed the need for the people to maintain a clean environment.
He also thanked the Council for ensuring the success of the exercise in the area.
