Enugu Lifts Embargo On Employment
At last, the Enugu State government has lifted the embargo on employment into civil service of the State as part of its efforts to facilitate employment of the teaming unemployed youths.
Commissioner for Information, Mr.Chuks Ugwoke, disclosed this at the end of the state Executive Council meeting Wednesday, presided over by the State Governor Mr. Sullivan Chime. According to him, with the lifting of the embargo, the State Civil Service Commission has been mandated to call for memos on vacancy positions from government universities, departments and agencies and follow due process in employing qualified candidates to fill existing vacancies.The Commissioner said that the council had in the same vein, approved the verification exercise in the state service to take care of those who were not captured biometrically due to their inability to complete their commendation before the exercise ended. He also said that others involved in the verification exercise were newly recruited staff, those absorbed into ministries and others with other genuine reasons.
The State Information boss further said that the state Executive Council also approved the state department management policy and procedure manual for use by stakeholders, adding that the state management department would advise the governor on debt matters.He hinted that the state government’s renewed efforts to keep Enugu clean has received a another boost as the council was informed during the meeting that one of the three mechanized road sweepers had arrived the state while the remaining two will arrive the state within two weeks with compactors.
In another development, the new General Officer commanding the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Enugu, Major – General OO Oshinowo, Oshinowo until his present appointment was the commander Special Task Force in Jos, Plateau state.
According to a press release in Enugu and signed by the Assistant Director, Public Relations of the Division, Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa, the new GOC takes over from the outgoing General Officer Commanding, Major-General Sunday Idoko, who is appointed the new chief of Logistics at the Army Headquarters, Abuja.
