Ebonyi Assembly Reconstitutes Standing Committees
The Ebonyi House of Assembly, has reconstituted its standing committees to reposition them for improved services.
The committees were dissolved, following the impeachment of the former Speaker, Mr Ikechukwu Nwankwo, on December 21.
The Speaker, Mr Chukwuma Nwazunku, while reading names of the reconstituted committees at the plenary session, said modalities had been put in place to ensure that they functioned optimally.
“After the distractions witnessed last year as result of leadership changes among others, we want to ensure that we cover lost grounds and achieve our objectives for the legislative session,” he said.
He called on the leadership and members of the committees to be dedicated in the discharge of their functions to enable the lawmakers meet the people’s expectations.
Our correspondent reports that the three female legislators in the 24-member house were made chairmen of various committees.
They are: Helen Nwaobasi (Public Petition), Nnenna Nwene (Women Affairs) and Lilian Igwe (Establishment).
Chief Chukwuma Enyi of ANPP was made the Chairman of the House Committee on Public Service, while Mr Joseph Nwaobasi of ANPP got the Chairman of the House Committee on Ethics and Service.
