Dolphins Stop Gombe Utd’s Run …Win 2-0
Defending champions,
Dolphins FC of Port Harcourt yesterday ended league leaders, Gombe United’s undefeated record in the 2012 Nigeria Premier League season courtesy of a 2-1 victory at the Liberation Stadium, Port Harcourt.
Home body and ex-Gombe striker, Adamu Mohammed’s 38th minute headed goal gave Dolphins the lead.
However, Gombe’s Sanusi Sani, leveled the game with an equaliser on the 43rd minute after a goal mouth scramble to end the first half one goal apiece.
On resumption, Dolphins FC raised their game and dominated play in the opening minutes which led to the winning goal scored by Seida Abuu on the 53rd minute. The goal came off a defensive blunder from the visitors.
As it stands, Gombe United still tops the league table with 13 points, while Dolphins are now second with 12 points.
Speaking shortly after the game, Dolphins technical adviser, Stanley Eguma, expressed joy over the victory and commended his players for their superlative performance.
