Nsukka Local Council in Enugu State has threatened to revoke shops allocated to traders in New Ikpa Commodity Market, if the affected traders failed to put the shops into immediate use.

The LG Chairman, Mr Tony Ugwu, who made this known in Enugu on Saturday, told newsmen that the shops would be revoked and given to other people as soon as the committee set up by the council to find out unused allocated shops submits its report.

“Owners of shops at Ikpe Commodity Market Nru, should make use of the shops or risk their revocation.

“It is unfortunate that while some people are looking for shops, those who have it refuse to put them into good use

“They should make use of the stores allocated to them or the LG will revoke their allocations.

“Government issued the allocations and as well has right to cancel it,” he said

Ugwu expressed gratitude to Gov Sullivan Chime for approving the asphate roads leading to the market, stressing that it would make easy movement in and out of the market.

He said that his administration second tenure would give special attention to education, health, and agriculture and youth empowerment.

“On Wednesday the council donated ten HP laptop computers to St Cypril Special Science School Nsukka to boost computer education in the school.

“The LG will build more model primary schools in Nsukka this year.

“Farmers in the LG will be encouraged so as to achieve food security in the area.

“The council will increase its internal generated revenue drive, so that developmental projects would not be anchored on revenue from federal allocation alone,” he said

Ugwu, described recent report by a local newspaper in Nsukka that he had link with a cult group as untrue and unfounded.

“I have no link with any cult group, am too busy on how to take the LG to the next level ,also, my life is not under threat by any cult group,” he said.
