Commissioner Tasks Contractors On Traffic Flow

To ensure free flow of traffic along Trans-Amadi Industrial Layout, Port Harcourt, the contracting firm handling the drainage project, fieldwork Nig Ltd, has been charged to dispose off the debris arising from the excavation work daily at the site.

The Commissioner for Works, Rivers State, Hon. Victor Giadon, who gave the charge during an unscheduled inspection tour of some projects sites in the state, said although the contractor is doing a good Job, they should ensure that the project is delivered on scheduled.

He said they would visit the site next month to ascertain the level of work so far done, and commended the firm for carrying out the job according to expectation.

Hon. Giadon, who also visited the Okporo Road project, urged the contracting firm, Solberg Nig. Ltd handling the expansion project of the road to redouble the pace of work to facilitate its completion before the rains.

The commissioner, who expressed disappointment with the level of work done, however urged the contractor to put in more efforts so that the residents of the area would not suffer unnecessary hardship and transportation difficulties during the rains.

He called on the contractor to increase the pace of work by increasing his manpower, equipment and ensure that work is done both in the day and night to achieve set target, assuring that government is desirous to providing new lease of life for its citizenry.

The commissioner also visited the roads reconstruction projects at old Port Harcourt Township, and enjoined the contractors to ensure speedy completion of the projects.
