Chime Lauds Immigration’s Contributions To Security
The Governor of Enugu State, Mr. Sullivan Chime has commended the contributions of the State Command of the Nigerian Immigration Service towards the security of life and property in the state.
Governor Chime who made his feelings known when he received the Comptroller of Immigration Services in the State, Mr. Gerald Dilibe at Government House Enugu, described the performance of the command in that regard as exceptional.
He noted with happiness that efforts of the command and other security operatives had helped in ensuring the peace being enjoyed by the people in parts of the state.
The Governor also used the occasion to commend officers and men of the command for their invaluable contributions during the recent governorship election in the state and urged them to redouble efforts in rendering efficient and effective services to the nation.
The State Chief Executive therefore directed that the Comptroller should be admitted as a member of the State Security Council and also promised government’s disposition to support and assist the command in the discharge of its duties.
Earlier in his address, Mr. Dilibe told the Governor that the visit was to formally register his presence as a new Comptroller of Immigration Services in the State and to thank him for his government’s assistance to the command over the years.
Mr. Dilibe commended the Governor for a successful and hitch free local government election in the state and for his good works in the areas of infrastructural development and efficient service delivery to the people.
He also stated that the visit was designed to help sensitise the people on the constitutional roles of the Immigration Services, especially in the areas of security and stability in the socio-cultural and economic well-being of the nation.
On the issue of security, Mr. Dilibe noted that no security agent is an Island onto itself and therefore needed the support and cooperation of everybody to perform effectively.
He, however, appealed to the Governor to direct the inclusion of their officers as members of the Security Council in the 17 local government councils in the state.
This, he said, became very necessary especially now the Boko Haram sect is terrorising the people in some parts of the country.
