Chime’s Aide Hails Executive, Legislature Cordial Relationship

The Economic Adviser to the Governor of Enugu State on Special Projects, Prince Ogbogu Asogwa,  has commended the excellent working relationship between the Governor and members of the Legislature in the state.

Prince Asogwa made the commendation when he received in audience members of the State House of Assembly Committee on Economic Development and Poverty Reduction, Millennium Development Goals and Non-governmental Organisation during their oversight function to his office.

The Economic Adviser noted that although there is separation of powers in a democratic dispensation among the three arms of government, “the understanding and good working relationship between the Executive and Legislative arms of government in the state is worthy of emulation”.

Briefing members of the committee on the economic activities of the government, Prince Asogwa noted that “this very welcome development resulted in the landmark achievements recorded in the state by the administration since inception”.

He recounted some of the economic potentials of the state and reassured members of the committee that government was committed to exploiting them fully to transform the state and to the benefit of the people.

Prince Asogwa pointed out that already most of the programmes contained in the government’s Four-point Agenda, a blue print of the administration are being implemented, especially in the areas of road infrastructural development, poverty reduction, food production, education and health care, among others.

He told the committee members that his office had continued to make contributions, which facilitated the attraction of both local and foreign investors to invest in the state, and thanked them for the oversight visit and assured that his office was always ready to work together with the legislators to achieve the economic goals of the administration and make Enugu the economic nerve centre of the South-East zone.

Earlier in a speech, the Chairman of the Committee, Dame Mrs. Nkechi Omeje Ogbu, said the oversight visit was informed by the determination of the House to ensure effective and efficient implementation of government programmes and policies by ministries, departments and agencies in line with budgeting allocation.

She expressed delight with the continued progress made in the implementation of government economic programmes in the state.

Also in their contributions, other members of the committee, Hon Tony Ogidi , Iloabuchi Aniagu and Dr. Emeka Ogbuabor stressed the need for government to place more emphasis on economic activities that would generate employment opportunities to the youths as well as yield revenue to the state.

They paid tribute to Governor Chime’s administration for creating conducive environment to attract big time investments to shove up the state economy.
