Boko Haram Bombs Army Barracks In Kaduna
In what is believed to be a calculated attack, a suicide bomber was yesterday, killed in a bomb blast as he attempted to drive into the One Mechanised Division of the Nigerian Army in Kawo, Kaduna State.
However, an eye witness account said the suicide bomber successfully gained entrance into the army camp and exploded the bomb.
Another explosion was reportedly heard around the Airforce Base on Airport Road while a third bomb exploded under a busy flyover close to Kawo Motor Park.
Three people in a bus on the flyover were allegedly killed instantly. It was gathered that immediately after the heavy blasts, entry and exit points in the division and the airforce barracks were shut.
Soldiers prevented journalists and civilians from gaining access to the affected areas. Security agents also blocked the busy Kaduna-Zaria Road and occupied some vital areas in the city, causing heavy traffic jams, while parents scampered to pick their children from schools.
However, there were unconfirmed reports that some people lost their lives while others sustained injuries.
It would be recalled that last Wednesday, 17 out of the 43 victims of the Christmas Day bombing in Madalla, Niger State were buried amidst tears and wailing by sympathisers and relatives of the dead.
It was also a sad reminder of the recent Kano bombing by members of Boko Haram that claimed about 200 lives.
Unfortunately, Kaduna has become their latest target in what a source said was occasioned by the recent arrest of the moslem sect members.
