Alumni Laud ASUU, FG Truce
The national leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has been applauded for reaching amicable compromise with the government.
Speaking to The Tide, the vice chairman, University of Port Harcourt branch, Mr Obari Alale said the leadership of ASUU should be commended over the manner they handled the negotiation with the federal government.
He said ASUU’s position was in the interest of protecting our universities, stressing that our universities will be centre of excellence to promote exchanges of ideas compare with other world acclaimed universities.
The Alumni vice chairman also thanked the federal government for their position taken in the best interest of promoting conducive learning atmosphere in Nigeria’s universities.
It would be recalled that ASUU has embarked on an indefinite strike on December 5, 2011 following the federal government’s failure to implement 2009 agreement with it.
