Rivers State Amateur Cycling Association is planning to hold the 7th edition of the Garden City Cycling Championship in Port Harcourt by the end of the month.

This was disclosed by the secretary of the Association, Mr. Ebenezer Ogbuji in an interview with Tidesports in his office at the Alfred Diette- Spiff Sports complex, Port Harcourt.

According to him, this year’s tournament would be a remarkable event as foreign Cyclists from Italy are expected to participate in order to add more colour to the annual competition.

He said that the championship would also be used to select and prepare cyclists that would represent the state at the forthcoming 18th National Sports Festival Schedule to hold November, this year, in Lagos.

Meanwhile, preparations are in top gear for the Rivers State Cycling team as they are working assiduously for the task ahead and to compete successfully when the tournament kicks-off.

Ogbuji further said that about 13 states across the Federation have been invited for the competition.

The tournament would no doubt boost the morale of athletes and enhance their performance at the 18th National Sports Festival.

It would be recalled that the State cycling association held the 6th edition of the tournament in the Garden City, last year.
