Wydad Casablanca, Coach Part Ways
Swiss coach Michel Decastel has parted company with African Champions League finalists Wydad Casablanca of Morocco.
The 56-year-old coach could now be headed to Tunisian side Esperance to take over from Nabil Maaloul.
Decastel has been heavily linked with Eseprance, who beat Wydad 1-0 on aggregate in the two-legged final in November.
Tunisian newspaper Le Temps at the weekend reported Decastel was being sought as a replacement for Nabil Maaloul.
Maaloul stepped down last Wednesday telling a news conference in Tunis he needed rest after leading Esperance to the African Champions League title with victory over Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca.
Decastel previously coached Esperance for the 2002-03 season.
His departure from Wydad followed a run of poor league results.
Decastel had only been in the job since the middle last year but had taken the club to their first Champions League final in almost 20 years.
Esperance went to the Club World Cup in Japan, where they lost both their games to finish sixth.
They are are currently 11th in the Tunisian league, 15 points behind leaders Club Bizertin with four games in hand.
