Women League Congress To Discuss Dev Plans

The Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWPL), Peter Oguche, has said that developmental plans were some of the issues for discussion at its forth coming congress.

Oguche told newsmen in Lagos that the congress would hold between tomorrow and Wednesday in Ibadan.

“We have various problems confronting the development of the league and the newly inaugurated board; however the congress will map out strategies of confronting these problems at the congress.

“Major problems confronting the board include dearth of sponsors for both our national and international competitions,’’ the spokesman said.

The spokesman added that dates for its new season would also be announced at the congress.

According to him, the congress would also provide the opportunity for the representatives of different female football competitions to interact on the way forward for the league.

“The congress will review our performance for last season. We will also deliberate on how we can improve this season and fashion out way forward for the development of the league,” he said.

He added that representatives of different female football associations like the Amalgamation of Nigeria Female Football Coaches Association (ANFFCA) would also be present at the congress.

Oguche then called for individual and corporate organisations supports stressing that the league needed sponsors for its development.

ANFFCA President, Rolandson Odeh, described the congress as a welcome development for the development of the league and female football in the country.

Odeh said he was impressed that this new board was inviting different groups to see how the league and female football can develop in the country.
