RSG Issued 113 C of Os In 2011 – Amaechi
So far, the Rivers State Government approved about 113 Certificates of Occupancy in 2011.
The disclosure was made by the Governor of the State, Rt Hon Chibuike Amaechi during his 2012 new year broadcast earlier this week.
Governor Amaechi said the process was part of effort aimed at evolving a formidable land policy in the state.
Against this backdrop, he hinted that measures were being put in place to phase out analogue processing of land documents, “by December 2012, all analogue Cs of Os would be digitalised.”
He noted that the administration has embarked on the construction of 230 world class road networks and infrastructure within Port Harcourt and its environs.
To actualise this, he stated that government had adopted an accelerated project completion approach to ensure that before the end of the first quarter of this year, 40 percent of the projects would have been completed.
The Governor further reiterated the determination of his administration to complete the Monorail project despite widely held skepticism.
In his words, “the 2.6km monorail project will be completed and another 5.2 km stretch from UTC to Waterlines will commence this year.
“Against public insinuations, we are committed to completing the monorail project which government conceived as one clear means to realise mass transportation of people without increased pressure on our roads.”
H,e however, appealed to the citizenry and other corporate bodies to contribute to the Social Contributory Levy Act in order to sustain the state’s free medicare and education programmes.
The Governor also assured on eliminating multiple tax regime through the harmonisation of the tax system as he enjoined every legitimate businesses and individuals to pay their taxes duly and promptly.
