Rivers People Laud Labour’s Suspension Of Strike
The State Chairman Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Chief Abibo yesterday in Port Harcourt lauded the maturity of the Federal Government and the Organised Labour towards the peaceful resolution of the fuel subsidy strike.
The union chairman commanded the doggedness of the organised labour and congratulated the respective unions over the successful resolution of the strike in the interest of Nigerians.
Comrade Abibo also commended President Goodluck Jonathan for displaying uncommon leadership qualities expected of a statesman in the overall interest of Nigerians and the economy.
He said the measures announced by the President will ameliorate pains experienced by the down-trodden and pensioners on the deregulation of the down stream sector of the petroleum industry.
Similarly, the secretary of the Civil Society Coalition for Democracy in the state, Mr Ken Henshaw commended the organised labour for the suspension of the strike.
He praised the labour leaders in the state and country for their determination to always protect the masses, stressing that Nigerians applauded the Labour for their resilience.
The civil society coalition secretary added that Nigerians deserved commendation.
Also, the state chairman of the NLC, Chief Comrade Chris Oruge has commended workers and people of the state for their support towards the Labour over the recent fuel subsidy removal strike. He praised the workers for their peaceful conduct throughout the period of the strike, advising workers in the state to go about their normal duties in view of the suspension of the strike.
Chief Oruge commended the maturity of the state government in recognising the plights of the workers, stressing that the steps taken by the state Governor, Rotimi Amaechi are well commendable steps to address the plights of the people.
