River East Senatorial Re-run Polls: Free, Fair, Peaceful – Opposition

Senatorial re-run election conducted by the Independent National Election Commissioner (INEC) last week has been described as very free, fair and peaceful.
The re-run senatorial election was won by Hon. Thompson Sekibo of the People Democratic Party.
Addressing the press on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, Hon Omah Ali, chairman of the Rivers State Chapter of the National Social Democratic Party (NSDP) said the re-run election was without any election malpractice and advised all candidates who contested the election not to protest because it may amount to waste of time and resources adding that “as far as we are concerned the election was free and fair”.
Hon. Ali who lauded the Joint Task Force (JTF) and other security agents for the peace and order during the election urged all other contestants to accept the result of the election in the spirit of sportsmanship.
The press briefing was attended by representatives of the Labour Party (LP), United Nigeria Peoples Party (UNPP) and the Peoples Party of Nigeria (PPN)
