Obi Urges Nigerians To Embrace Peace
Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State, has urged Nigerians to embrace peace for the overall development and progress of the country.
Obi made the call on Saturday in Onitsha while expressing happiness over the victory of Gov. Rochas Okorocha (APGA) of Imo at the Appeal Court on Friday.
He stressed the need for perpetrators of violence in the country to have a re-think, saying: “it does nobody any good to thread on the part of violence.
“Drawing analogy with our state, Anambra; the state did not witness any meaningful development before I came on board.
“Because of rascality, violence and bedlam that were the order of the day and I spent better part of my years building peace and confidence.
“This, however, led to increased socio-economic activities in the state, including the giant companies of the World building their facilities in the state,’’ he said.
According to him, no part of the country will accept to be used as cannon folders and that Nigerians should embrace one another for the good of all.
On Okorocha’s victory, Obi said that it was another proof that “the Judiciary in Nigeria is awake to its responsibility of being the hope of the hopeless’’.
He noted that before now, he was the only APGA governor, and that he now got a brother in Okorocha, after a hard labour.
