The Kwara State House of Assembly has approved the N10 billion credit facility requested by Gov. Abdufatah Ahmed to fund projects.

The legislators, who unanimously endorsed the request, said that the request would make the state economically viable.

The Tide reports that the governor had forwarded a letter to the lawmakers seeking their approval to fast-track development of the state.

Leading the debate, the Majority Leader, Mr Abraham Ashaolu, said that since the request was not controversial, his colleagues should grant it expeditiously in the interest of the state.

“There is need to fast-track the development of infrastructural facilities in the state and the burning desire of the present administration is to deliver the dividends of democracy to the electorate.

Chairman, House Committee on Judiciary and Ethics, Mr Kamaldeen Fagbemi, said that the conditions governing the loans were favourable in the context of the current money market.

According to him, granting the request will go a long way in assisting the government to meet the needs of the people.

The Tide recalls that the state government said it would source the loan from the GT Bank under a 42-month repayment tenor.
