Heartland To Unveil 10 New Players

Heartland FC of Owerri is to unveil 10 new players ahead of the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) 2012 season scheduled to start this weekend, a club official said.

The Media Officer of the club, Cajetan Nkwopara, said yesterday that the team had since forwarded the names of the players to NPL secretariat for clearance.

“We cannot release the names now until they are all cleared. As soon as they are cleared at the secretariat, we shall unveil the new signings,’’ he said.

Nkwopara said that many clubs had taken similar steps and were waiting to know that the players did not have anything to stop them from featuring for the various clubs.

He said the club retained 21 players, promoted two from the feeder team and put 14 on the transfer market.

Nkwopara said the club also retained the coaching crew but would do some minor reshuffle to ensure proper utilisation of the staff.
