The Special Assistant to the Rivers State Governor on Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Hon Goodliffe Nmekini has been urged to put more efforts in order to move the state forward through ICT.
Addressing newsmen in Port Harcourt recently the president of Niger Delta Coalition Against Violence (NDCAV) Comrade Christian B. Lekia, said the state could become an investor’s haven if the ICT department is properly managed.
Lekia noted that many countries of the world have new shifted their attention to the ICT industry due to its robust nature.
He pointed out that gone were the days when people were rushing to the oil sector and others, adding that any ideal investor will want to invest in ICT.
Describing the industry as a safe haven for investors, he said it had the capacity to absorb more unemployed youths than any other sector of the economy.
The youth leader, maintained that the industry (ICT) would soon bridge the gap between the rich and poor due to its dynamism.
He also charged Nmekini to feed the governor on all the latest about ICT to enable him procure/provide the necessary logistics for the development of the industry.
On why he has chosen to talk more on ICT matters, he said he had no option than to join the moving train.
Furthermore, he called on the governor to create an ICT Ministry that will absorb those sent abroad on ICT training.
He reasoned that it will be nice if those sent abroad gained immediate employment on their return, saying that it will encourage others around to study harder.
He lauded Governor Amaechi for the reappointment of Hon Nmekini as S.A on ICT, while appealing to Rivers people to rally round him for better tomorrow.
