The Secretary, Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON), Patrick Okpavuerhe, has said that the withdrawal of fuel subsidy, will possibly affect the federation’s activities for the year 2012.

Okpavuerhe told newsmen in Lagos that the federation’s activities which usually kick off in January would definitely be shifted if the fuel crisis continues.

It might affect some of our programmes. Our first programme for this year, NEC meeting, every year, we do meet January to approve our programmes for the year.

But the one of this year is coming up in Asaba Delta state; it might affect some people coming because of the transport problem, the hike in transport.‘

The secretary, who urged the government to reduce the fuel price increase, said that the removal would definitely affect other sports federations.

He also urges the government to listen to the voice of the people in the quest of adjusting the sudden increase in fuel price.

YSFON is an organisation, we are not different from other people, if the thing affects us, it will affect other people also.

That is why I said generally that government should listen to the voice of the people and do something good so that inflation rate not bite harder on citizen.

Okpavuerhe said that the removal could be done gradually, adding that government should have also put in place some infrastructures before the sudden removal of the subsidy.
