Dolphins FC Kicks Off 2012 Season With Victory

Nigeria premier League (NPL) champions, Dolphins FC of Port Harcourt has begun the defence of their tittle on a winning note after edging last sesion’s runners up, sunshine stars 1 – 0 at the weekend.

It wa the opening fixture of the 2011/2012 football season and Dolphins worked hard to claim the makimin three points at stake in front of have fans at the liberation stadium Port Harcourt.

Speaking with sports journalists shortly after the match the technical adviser of Dolphins Stanley Eguma said inspite the fact that his side won sunshine is also a good team.

According to him, the two teams gave good account of themselves as fist and first rnners up in the last seaon.

“I must say that sunshine is a good team, I also know that we did not play our best today because our new players whowere signed to beef-up the team did not play, because they have not finished their clearance” Eguma said.

He explined that the game was the first match consequently you might not know the strength of your opponent, saying that every team may have signed new players.

“You see this is the first game you might not know the strength of your opponents, before the game starts, you and I know that most teams signed new players” he stated.

The technical adviser, commended the efforts of his players, as they clinched the victory at the end of the game; adding that most important thing in a match is to win and more top.

Eguma, revealed that about the club signed about ten new players this season to ensure that they defend their tittle and win CAF champion league.

Also speaking, he chief coach of sunshine stars of Akure, Gbenga Ogunbote, said Dolphins is a good team and generally the match is “ good one been the first in the season.
