The National Industrial Court sitting in Abuja and presided over by Justice J. T. Agbadu-Fishini, has restrained the acting National President of the National Union of Banks Insurance and Financial Institutions Employees (NUBIFIE), Comrade Peter Okafor from parading himself as the union’s National President.

This followed a suit instituted before the court by the union Secretary General and other officers in accordance with the third alteration of the 1999 constitution section 254 (as amended) challenging the leadership of Comrade Peter Okafor over the union.

The industrial court also restrained national officers of the union including the Second Deputy President, Comrade Kamson Olaniyi, Deputy General Secretary and Deputy National Treasurer, Comrade M. A. Adesanya.

The court ordered all the affected national officers of the union to stop parading themselves as leaders of the union pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.
