The member representing Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Kingsley Chinda, has called on Rivers people to send their memoranda to the House Committee on the Review of the 1999 constitution for consideration.

Hon Chinda who is also representing Rivers State in the Constitution Review Committee made the call while speaking with newsmen at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa.

He said although the House would be making public announcement concerning the exercise in a couple of weeks, he equally considered it necessary to apprise Rivers people of this development.

“I want to use this opportunity to call on Rivers people to send their memoranda to the committee for consideration, because the House is going into the amendment of the constitution,  he said.”

According to him, “whatever we think that we need to amend in the constitution, this is an opportunity for us to do so, particularly issues that bother on environment,  state creation, electoral system and all that.”

He enjoined Rivers people to participate in the drafting of the constitution, saying “we need not leave it to just members of legislative arm.”
