Commissioner Empowers Grassroot Women
The Rivers State Commissioner For Lands and Survey, Hon Ezemonye Ezekiel-Amadi, has charged women to remain supportive to their husbands in order to enable the family grow.
Hon Ezekiel-Amadi gave the charge recently at Omerelu in Ikwerre Local Government Area when he empowered 100 women with N50,000.00 each.
The Commissioner said the empowerment scheme was to assist them in farming works and some domestic jobs gearing towards improving the livelihood of the family.
He noted that the N5 million distributed among the 100 women was a mere show of his support to the Amaechi-led government and that of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He appreciated the effort of the grassroots women towards the PDP. stating that a labourer is worthy of his wages.
The commissioner who advised against careless spending of the token advised beneficiaries to properly utilise the fund for record purposes.
He was of the view that it will be discouraging if they put it under their pillows as such actions would defeat the aim of the donation.
Furthermore, he described women as epitome of love and care, stating that they have the technical-know-how for home management.
One of the beneficiaries Mrs Eunice Wondi, who spoke with our correspondent said Hon. Ezekiel –Amadi has so far demonstrate good and sincere leadership style to the people of Omerelu in general and the women in particular.
Wondi reasoned that if women are treated in like manner, she will ensure that all her family will stand for the PDP and Ezemonye anytime.
Meanwhile, Mrs Okwuchi Lucky-Assor has lauded the commissioner for his kind gesture and promised to properly invest hers.
