Boko Haram: Cleric Warns Christians Against Retaliation
A cleric, Apostle Rummel Emenike has advised Christians to leave vengeance to God following the series of deadly attacks unleashed on them by sectarian groups in the northern part of the country.
The clergyman who was reacting to a statement credited to the National President of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bishop Ayo Oritsejafor that Christians should defend themselves in the event of further aggression, said such action would be tantamount to going to war.
He said they should rather pray to God to protect them from evil men and also liberate their tormentors from the hands of the devil.
Christians will not go to war. Christians cannot protect themselves because they are not God that protects. It is God who protects. God has told us that vengeance is His,” he declared.
He enjoined Christians to live by the teachings of Jesus Christ and allow God to take up the fight for them.
Apostle Emenike described Nigeria as a beautiful country with good destiny and assured that the Boko Haram crisis would only endure for a while.
He urged Nigerians to assist the security agencies in ensuring a safe and peaceful polity by giving them information that would nip security threats in the bud.
The clergyman noted that Nigeria would rule the world, stressing that the country would take its pride of place in the comity of nations before the end of the year.
He also lent support for the removal of fuel subsidy and expressed confidence that the federal government would make good its promise to the people.
“We are talking about infrastructure, we are talking about building refineries. How can these things be achieved?
“The only way is to save the billions of dollars that are wasted in subsidy, so that infrastructural deficiencies can be addressed, so that many other schemes and programmes that will be beneficial to the youths and indigent people will be put in place rather than wasting money on few people,” he said.
