Athletics Coach Set To Unearth Young Talents
One of the enterprising athletics coach in Rivers, Kwane Iyaye has declared his readiness to comb the grassroots and throw up young talents, especially from the schools.
The coach, who recently returned from a course on nurturing kids in athletics, said that he was now well equipped to tap and mould the potentials of youngsters.
Iyaye, who now nurtures kids under the “Rivers Kids Athletics” programme promised to ensure that he provides the platform for kid athletics to express their talents.
According to him, the “Rivers Kids Athletics” which is affiliated to the African Amateur Athletic Federation (AAAF) body in Kenya, is now set to take a new turn in its programme to enhance the performance of talent in athletics and promote the sport to the desired height at the state and national levels.
He said that the body which is the chairmanship of Dr Bob Yellowe in the state would ensure that it succeeds in its dreams.
Coach Iyaye also said that the body would go for young talents from the ages of 13-20 and groom them for state, national and international competitions, and make them get better deals in their chosen career.
However, the coach is sourcing for sponsors who would be willing to sponsor the programme as there are facilities and equipment that are needed to facilitate the smooth running of the programme.
He stated that one of the secondary schools in the state will be his base for the programme, and that high jump and hurdles are among equipment needed urgently for the programme.
