Authorities of 2 Brigade Command Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, have debunked reports of bomb scare at Bori camp barrack or the alleged truck load of explosives recovered at the barrack.

In a statement in Port Harcourt yesterday, the Brigade’s Public Relations Officer, Lt-Col Aminu Iliyasu said the reports of the alleged bomb scare and the truck load of explosives were the handiworks of unpatriotic elements.

Lt.-Col Iliyasu, who was reacting to what he called “a malicious sms and blackberry messages by some unpatriotic elements alleging a bomb scare in Port Harcourt barrack and the truck of explosives, regretted that the unfortunate report was connected to a part of Nigeria in order to draw sympathy for the people ejected from the barrack’s Mammy Market since November 2011 due to administrative and security reasons.

The Brigade’s PRO categorically stated that there was no truck or vehicle arrested loaded with explosives at Bori camp barrack or anywhere within its area of responsibility as alleged.

He re-assured peace-loving citizens of their safety in Rivers State as the Brigade command was continuously working round the clock with sister security agencies in the state for the protection of lives and property.

He also solicited for useful information from the general pubic on security issues.
