The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has advised government to release all those arrested during the protests against petrol subsidy removal.

The party’s National Director of Publicity, Chief Ifeanacho Oguejiofor, gave the advice in Abuja recently during an interview with newsmen.

Oguejiofor said the peaceful resolution of the one week strike by the government was an indication that the government has the capacity to respond to the yearnings of Nigerians.

He urged the government to take labour as a partner in development. “Labour should not be seen as an opposition but as a partner in progress.’’

Oguejiofor also debunked the notion that opposition parties hijacked the strike and the street protests to their advantage.

“Our opposition parties are weak in the area of mobilisation and the masses have learnt over time to mobilise themselves in situations like these.

“The Government should remember that the same Nigerians who mobilised support for President  Jonathan in the last election are still the ones who mobilised to oppose subsidy removal.’’

The party spokesman commended the government for reasoning along with the masses and shifting ground on the price.
