Abia Contractors Get N4bn For Projects Execution
The Abia State Governor, Theodore Orji has released N4 billion to contractors handling various road projects in the State.
Orji said the delay in releasing the money was due to the nationwide strike embarked upon by the organised labour and civil society groups over fuel subsidy removal.
In a statement in Umuahia by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Ugochukwu Emezue, Orji urged the contractors to complete the projects before the rainy season.
The governor said, “now that the second tranche of the money for the projects has been released, the government wants the contractors to intensify work to ensure that the projects are completed before the rainy season starts.
“Therefore, I hereby direct the contractors yet to return to site to do so immediately”.
The governor said the projects were very dear to the people of the state hence all efforts must be made to meet the deadline.
Orji said he would continue to monitor the projects to ensure they were not only completed, but built to the required standards and specifications.
