Woman, 32, Seeks Divorce Over Childlessness

A 32-year-old woman, Ajoke Olayinka, on Tuesday pleaded with an Ikorodu Customary Court in Lagos to dissolve her four-year-old marriage due to childlessness and threats to life.

Ajoke, a business woman, asked the court to dissolve her marriage on the grounds that her husband, Femi, did not care to be a father and had never given her a rest of mind.

My husband is not ready to have a child; he threatens to kill me at all times. He is not a responsible husband; I’m no more interested, she told the court.

The husband, a 30-year-old commercial motorcyclist, aka Okada rider, did not contest her claims.

“I am also not interested in the marriage anymore. She is a flirt; I saw her coming out of a hotel with a man sometimes ago.

“She is also a dirty woman; I don’t want her again,’’ he told the court.

The Court President, Alhaji Nojeem Isiaka, ordered the husband to stop threatening his wife and should allow her to pack her belongings from his house.

The case was adjourned till December 19 for judgement.
