Ukah Targets European Club
Nigeria defender Ugochukwu Ukah has his eyes set on a European spot after an outstanding half season for Widzew Lodz.
Just a few months ago, the relationship between the Nigerian and Lodz was under serious strain. There was even talk that his contract could be terminated at the end of the 2010/11 season.
Such was the acrimony between player and club that Widzew failed to pay him his wages for some months.
But the 27-year-old has shrugged off his off the field problems in Poland, and cemented his place in the first team and could well be playing in Europe next term if the Lodz based club continue their good run when the league resumes from the winter break.
“I think we can be successful. We are in a safe place, away from the bottom of the table and not very big loss to the teams that are in the forefront. Surely with a little luck we could get some more points.
“As for me, I too am happy with my game in this round. Coach Radoslaw Mroczkowski believed in me, gave me a chance, which I think I used. “Besides, I recently fulfilled one of my biggest dreams, which is my debut for Nigeria. What can I say, it was for me a great autumn,” Ukah told sport.
