Toby Tasks Politicians On Fair Representation

The former Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Sir G.T.G. Toby has called for closer interventions between elected representatives and their people.

Sir Toby who said this during an “Evening With Your Representatives” organised by Hon. Dakuku Peterside, the lawmaker representing Andoni/Opobo-Nkoro Federal Constituency regretted the impression that most elected representatives had formed the habit of abandoning their people after election.

He said that Hon. Peterside must serve as an example to others, stressing that the interest of the people must override personal interest.

Also speaking, the Senator representing Rivers East Senatorial Zone in the National Assembly, Hon. Magnus Abe described Hon. Peterside as a committed and dedicated lawmaker who has put the service of his constituency above personal interest.

Senator Abe said that Nigeria which has abundant natural resources, needed dedicated and committed leaders to harness it for the interest of the masses.

Meanwhile, the Hon. member representing Andoni/Opobo-Nkoro Federal constituency Hon. Dakuku Peterside has inaugurated an Andoni/Opobo-Nkoro Economic Summit Group 2012.

Speaking during the inauguration, Hon. Peterside said that the group is expected to produce a document on all investment opportunities in the constituency.

The group is chaired by Mr. Emi Ikuru, while Mike Igoni is to be the Secretary.

Other members of the group are Awajinombek Abiante, Isaac Mietamunu Jaja, Engineer Justus Ngerebara and Senibo Willie Park.
