Sylva Sends Commissioner-Nominee To Assembly

Bayelsa State Governor, Chief Timipre Sylva, has nominated Barrister Fitzegerald Biuks Olorogun as replacement for Mr. Etifa Bekeakpo, who resigned his appointment as the State Commissioner for Youths, Conflict Resolution and Employment Generation.

Mr. Etifa who announced the resignation of his appointment early last week citing family and business interest for his action was however sighted at the PDP elders forum on Friday where he offered the opening prayer of the body during their meeting.

Political observers said the forum is the engine of the opposition to Chief Sylva’s administration.

The name of the new Commissioner-nominee has been sent to the Bayelsa State House of Assembly for confirmation in line with the constitution.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Ola Dofie in a statement thanked the former commissioner for the resignation, and advised him to hand over all government property in his possession to the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry.

A profile of the Commissioner nominee, Mr. Olorogun showed that he studied Law at the University of Lagos and the Nigerian Law School, Lagos. He did the mandatory national youth service at the Ministry of Justice in the then Bendel State in 1982. thereafter, he wnt into private legal practice, and was appointed Special Adviser to the Bayelsa State Governor on legal Matters under Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.

Presently, Olorogun is Special Adviser to Governor  Timipre Sylva on Legal Education.
