Rivers Wrestlers Target Delta State’s Record …18th National Sports Festival

Coach of Rivers State Wrestling Association, Eli Oyonomunmude has pledged to increase the number of medals won at the 17th National Sports Festival during the next years festival to be hosted by Lagos State.

Oyonomunude made the pledge in an exclusive chat with Tide Sports in Port Harcourt over the weekend.

According to him, the team has worked hard to ensure that it surpasses the number of laurels won during the 17th National Sports fiesta, stressing that the team adequately prepared to  target Delta State record.

He said that the team would achieve its target if the needed encouragement and support would be given to them to enable the athletes excel at the forth coming 18th NSF scheduled to held in Lagos State.

Coach Oyonomunude, however, disclosed that the state Sports Council had already sent a proposal toa the state sports Ministry for team Rivers to Commence camping by January.

He noted that early camping for the athletes would help to fine tune and improve the performance of the state wrestlers.

It would be recalled that the Rivers Wrestling team clinched third position during the 17th  Nationals sports festival with six gold, two Silver and eight boonze while Delta and Bayelsa States went home with first and second position respectively.
